Join us for an evening of local poetry. Sponsored by the Independent Weekly, winners and judges of the Indy poetry contest will read selections of their poetry. First place winner, Joe Fletcher, of Carrboro is a Ph.D. candidate in English at UNC. Jill Coyle, second place winner and Cary resident, holds a Ph.D. in classical literature at Duke. Maria Isabelle Carlos, third place winner, is currently a student at UNC, where she is the Thomas Wolfe scholar. Andrew Bryson is this year’s honorable mention and a Durham resident. This year’s judges include local poets Bridget Bell, Laura Jaramillo, Brian Howe, and Chris Vitiello. Snacks and beverages will be served.
